Kinma Primary offers diverse in-school and after-school activities like swimming, surfing, taekwondo, music, Spanish, and drama to enrich student learning.
Exploring, Experimenting and Expanding
We nurture curiosity in each child by exploring, experimenting and expanding upon their interests and inquiries.
Basketball
Basketball is a valued activity that promotes physical development and teamwork. Jerome, our dedicated basketball teacher, leads weekly lessons for all age groups during Terms 2 and 3. Students eagerly participate in these sessions, refining their skills and enjoying the sport.
Additionally, many students engage in informal basketball games during breaks and before or after school, further enhancing their abilities and fostering a sense of community.
Bush to Bowl
Our regular incursions with Bush to Bowl build knowledge and awareness of native plants, edibles and Country. Guidance from this 100% Aboriginal owned local company expands our understanding and connection to First Nations knowledge systems and supports our very own bush food gardens at Kinma.

Music
Every week all children enjoy their music lessons from Kym at Music Play Habitat. All classes gather in the hall for their group sessions and learn how to read music, and play an array of different instruments. At the end of the year all the children rehearse and perform a few songs for the families.
Drama
Every week, our whole school has drama classes with Sean—it’s the highlight of the week! Through singing, dancing, and acting, students immerse themselves in the world of performance, culminating in a spectacular drama production showcased to families at our Creativity Festival. Drama builds confidence & self esteem, communication skills, teamwork, creative thinking and emotional expression.
Language
Each week, children eagerly anticipate visits from our dedicated language teachers, who help them explore the rich diversity and global significance of language and its culture.
Taekwondo
On Friday afternoons local martial arts school “Dragon Taekwondo” offer an extra-curricula class for interested Kinma students. Their play-based multi-age approach encourages strong mentorship, peer respect, and self discipline and is a perfect match to the Kinma teaching philosophy.
Swimming
In terms 1 and 4 swimming lessons are completed by all primary students at the Terrey Hills Swim School, just a short walk down the road. Children can access varying levels of swimming lessons from learn to swim through to stroke correction and enjoy their learning with their peers as part of the school day activities.
Surf Safety
In Term 4, we offer surf safety skills lessons to our older children at Mona Vale Beach. These lessons focus on essential skills such as safety at the beach in in the surf. By participating in these lessons, students not only gain valuable surfing skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for ocean safety and environmental awareness.
Kinma Programs
Kinma Play Group offers nature-based play for young children every Monday, 9:30–11:00am. No booking needed. $5 casual sessions during school terms.
Kinma’s Bush Preschool offers play-based learning in a child-centred, nature-rich setting. Open 9am–3pm during term, with option for extended hours Tuesday – Thursday.
Kinma fosters critical thinking and self-awareness through rich dialogue, feedback, and supportive, multi-age classes—nurturing confident lifelong learners.
Kinma’s After School Hours Program offers a calm, small-group setting for play and relaxation on our bushland campus. Open Tuesday–Thursday, 3–6pm during term.
