Reporting and tests
Our community chooses not to participate in standardised testing or graded reports. Instead, children are individually assessed on their progress and abilities.
In Kinma primary, the learning program covers all six key learning areas in the NSW Board of Studies primary curriculum. These include: Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and its Environment, Personal Development Health and Physical Education and the creative and practical arts.
Tinkering days are regular term events at Kinma where parents and teachers offer to share their passions, experience and knowledge with the children. (See our article on the educational benefits of tinkering.) Students choose to participate in a variety of activities that may include photography, cooking, scrap booking, touch typing, knitting, craft, yoga or dance.
At Kinma there is a very close teacher/child relationship. The informal and friendly environment encourages personal expression, as well as stimulating respect for and understanding of the individuality of others.
Kinma provides children with a strong academic, emotional, and social foundation. Along with the important basic skills, Kinma children take with them a love of learning, a strong sense of self and community, and well developed thinking and communication skills.
We understand that choosing your children's school is a very important task, and we are more than happy to answer all your questions. If you don't find an answer to your questions here, please don't hesitate to contact us.
